Our Core Values

Inagofli’e - Togetherness

Building a community of togetherness with everlasting friendships.

We strive to perpetuate our culture and instill a sense of belonging with our community abroad and away from home. A sense of identity out here in the diaspora.

Minesngon - Resilience

We continue to move forward with preservation of our language and history for today and future generations tomorrow.

The history of the Mariånas has endured multiple colonizations of our land, people, and language. As a people, we are like the trongkon niyok (coconut tree), standing in solidarity and bracing any storm that comes our way.

Inafa’maolek - Harmony

Having compassion and care for our culture and our community around us.

Through dance, chant, song, and language, we want to educate those around us about the CHamoru people. It is our duty as the next generation to revitalize our customs, beliefs, and heritage of the people of the Mariånas Islands.

About Ininan Mariånas

Ininan Mariånas, meaning "Shine the Light on the Mariånas," became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in San Antonio, TX, on June 6, 2023. As a tuition-free organization, we are dedicated to preserving the CHamoru culture through song, dance, beliefs, and knowledge. We proudly serve as a home away from home for the diaspora and CHamoru practitioners from the Mariåna Islands, including Saipan, Tinian, Rota, and Guam.
